What You Will Be Doing

  • Design, implement, and deliver reliable, high quality, robust embedded and desktop software targeted to surgical systems meeting regulatory standards.

  • Translate User Needs and Design Inputs into software requirements. Work closely with clinicians and product managers/executive as needed.

  • Develop software requirements in collaboration with other members of the development team as appropriate and proactively work to integrate with system requirements.

  • Develop and design software architectures, application logic, and user interfaces to meet the objectives of the surgical application.

  • Responsible for daily software activities including leading issue resolution and communication across discipline teams to deliver software projects on-time and on-budget.

  • Drive software risk assessment and implementation of measures to mitigate risk.

  • Work with other members of the software team to execute code and design reviews.

  • Drive design documentation and plans (e.g. software design documents, software development plans).

  • Utilize software engineering best practices (unit testing, code reviews, documentation).

  • Support modernization and continuous improvement of software team tools / processes.

  • Work cooperatively within the software group as well as across disciplines such as systems, electrical, computer vision and mechanical.

  • Participate in the creation of product plans including cost and time estimates.

What You Need for this Position


  • 3 or more years of relevant medical product development experience preferably with a surgical navigation product.

  • Spine

  • Demonstrated experience in object oriented design methodology and programming languages including C++ and Python.
