What You Will Be Doing
Electronic and Software Design for industrial products: Uses invention and skills to create specifications, designs, test strategy and documentation drafts for electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies as well as control and interface software for new and existing products.
Also provides engineering support to other departments on an as-needed basis.
Collaborate with the Engineering team to provide hardware and software design on new products.
Create flowcharts and documentation, compose and comment on microcomputer program source code.
Programming of system firmware user interface using touch screens as well as creating/modifying PC control software for BGA equipment.
Design for Real Time or Closed Loop temperature control of heaters and machine control (motor, pumps, DC & AC control).
Work from functional/application specifications developed by Sales/Marketing/Product Management for new projects.
Create and maintain Engineering Design Specifications and schedule.
Follow up on task accomplishments and communicate status to the appropriate parties during formal and informal reviews. Make adjustments to the specifications and schedule as needed.
Effectively manage all steps involved in achieving successful safety agency and EMC compliance. This includes conducting internal testing and working with outside test labs.
Assist with the coordination of new products moving into the production phase. This may include assisting with the Bill of Materials (BOM), writing assembly instructions and following up on issues and questions that arise from the production team.
Provide support to the manufacturing floor by designing and maintaining test fixtures, along with other various projects.
Writing test and manufacturing specifications.
Parts research for new and existing products. Research may involve the search of manufacturer(s) for part availability on existing products or locating manufacturers that are able to produce parts needed for new product lines.
What You Need for this Position
7 or more years of design experience in electronic and electrical circuits, control software and wiring.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with emphasis on embedded code/firmware development, physical circuit design, electronics and thermodynamics.
Should have the potential of eventually leading/managing the engineering department.
Must have experience developing linear and digital technology circuits including writing program(s) for microprocessor and PC based designs.
Low level embedded assembly software skill writing real time control software.
Some high-level software skill (e.g., C++, visual).
Digital and analog control design experience and functional understanding of power and thermal control circuits.
Must be a Hands-on Engineer that will prototype, troubleshoot (debug) and work with production to prepare new products for market.
Experience and familiarity of EMC/EMI design, testing and compliance (FCC, CE, etc.). Safety agency design practice (CSA, UL, CE, etc.).
Experience with company MRP/ERP systems. (Creating parts, entering BOMs)
