While under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, develop, maintain, and improve the quality system and processes.
What You Will Be Doing
-Serve as the primary contact with customers for quality issues.
-Review, report, and analyze data and costs as they relate to scrap and product conformity.
-Initiate continuous improvement projects.
-Participates in the selection of special characteristics.
-Assist in the sorting and evaluation of product in the Non-Conforming area.
-Prepares procedures and instructions for quality systems.
-Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain the statistical process control (SPC) system utilizing the information to control and improve processes.
-Trains appropriate personnel in quality system procedures.
-Participate in the development of quality objectives and initiatives.
-Champion the 8-D process for quality issues in the product cells he/she is responsible for. Guide the cross functional team through the root cause analysis tools to arrive at the root cause and ensure the entire 8-D process is completed and permanent corrective actions are completed.
-Document corrective actions in Kay 8-Ds, QRQC, and/or customer corrective actions format.
-Ensures continuous improvement activities implemented within a process are benchmarked throughout the facility and identified in the PFMEA.
-Identify and implement preventive actions.
-Develops and implement control plans according AIAG APQP Manual.
-Prepare and review PPAP submissions according to customer requirements and the AIAG PPAP Manual.
-Create and follow annual PPAP revalidation program.
-Participate with the core Team in APQP activities.
-Assess the physical structure and behavior of metals
-Produce reports on research and tests carried out
-Interpret and understand design drawings and make recommendations
-Make manufacturing time-critical decisions
-Monitor quality standards in manufacturing and finishing
-Structural analysis using sophisticated computer software
-Write documents, manuals, metallurgical investigations, and reports in support of customer liaison
-Discuss different solutions to problems with other technical staff
-Interpret customers' manufacturing design requirements and product application
-Maintain clean work area.
-Domestic and international travel to customer may be required.
-Actively participate in and contribute to daily shop floor reviews and improvement activities.
-Performs other associated responsibilities as assigned.
-Perform internal audits per the yearly Kay schedule.
What You Need for this Position
Must meet one of the following:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering program
3 years experience in the Quality profession
-Must be able to interpret and present data and information utilizing software packages such as Minitab and Microsoft Office
-Must know how to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T information, and customer specifications.
-Experience with CMM and Calypso software is preferable.
-Must understand statistical techniques.
-Must understand product traceability.
-Must know basic inspection and testing concepts.
-Must have experience with the Advanced Product Quality Process.
-Must have knowledge with AIAG core tools: PPAP, SPC, MSA, and APQP.
-Must understand the overall root cause identification and 8-D processes.
-Must know the difference between corrective and preventive action.
-Must know the appropriate processes to use for nonconforming materials.
-Should maintain a membership in ASQ and/or registration as a professional engineer (preferred).
-Experience in automotive industry a plus.
-Metallurgical training or experience is a plus
